- Iran’s First Deep Well
In 2017, the Cabinet approved a budget of 250 billion Rials for the exploratory drilling of the country’s first deep water well in Zabol. This project, jointly pursued by the Ministry of Energy and the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, was commissioned by the Iran Water and Power Resources Development Company. The drilling project commenced in March 2018, 50 kilometers southeast of Zabol, in the Sistan region, with the selection of Pedex, a subsidiary of the Mostazafan Foundation of Islamic Revolution, as the contractor. Subsequently, in mid-2019, the well reached water at a depth of more than 2,000 meters.
For the tender related to the design and execution of this exploratory drilling project in the Sistan region, Pedex emerged as the winner. The main employer (Iran Water and Power Resources Development Company) awarded the project to Pedex, which later invited qualified companies to participate in another tender. Giah Chasb Kish Drilling Services Company, leveraging its extensive experience, capabilities, and strong track record, as well as offering the best price, won the tender. Consequently, a contract was signed with the company to supply chemicals, drilling fluids, and provide technical engineering services in two phases.
By the end of 2018, ahead of the planned schedule, this contract was successfully completed under the best possible conditions and was duly acknowledged and commended by the employer.
